Watching what is going on in the Middle East now and over the last couple of years, along with watching the videos from the Islamic religious leaders preaching to their followers, I have flashbacks to 1930's Germany.
Must have been similar to what German Jews saw as the Nazis rose slowly from little more than street brawlers and corner soapbox speakers to being what they were. Slowly but steadily.
I'm sure many if not most German Jews just shook their heads and thought "crazies" never imagining it would be what it was. I'm sure many thought the police and government of German wouldn't let anything happen to them.

That is, until November 1938.
By then it was long since too late.
